Custodians of documents may reside in locations where convenience is at issue, requiring personnel to travel on-site and collect the data in person. In most cases, using proper personnel on-site does ensure the documents are collected in a sound manner with little or no alteration of data. However, trained and experienced personnel that understand the proper techniques in collecting electronic documents are not always in close proximity.
DS Forensics, Inc. has traveled the U.S. and overseas to collect electronic data in civil litigation and understands on-site collections may require travel costs and many hours at the custodian's location. Athough many scenarios exist that do require an expert to be on-site with the custodian's computers, we know some situations may allow for using today's technology to access the data from a distant location. From full disk images to targeted collections of documents and email, a remote collection may be the answer to your concerns on costs and logistics.
